El Grupo Chrysler (Chrysler, Dodge y Jeep) lanza al mercado el totalmente nuevo Jeep Compass modelo 2007.
Basado en la plataforma del Dodge Caliber y con versiones de tracción delantera e integral destaca por incorporar Control de Estabilidad (ESP) en TODAS las versiones.
El Compass es el primer SUV del Grupo que ofrece el Motor Mundial ó World Engine, desarrollado por DaimlerChrysler y fabricado en la ciudad de Dundee, Michigan, Estados Unidos.
Es también el primer SUV de tracción delantera del Grupo Chrysler, disponible también con tracción en las cuatro ruedas en la versión Limited 4x4, la cual es activada automáticamente a más de 40 km/h mediante su caja de control electrónico.
El Motor Mundial del Compass es un moderno 4 cilindros en línea de 2.4L de desplazamiento que genera 170 CF, su funcionamiento es suave y silencioso ya que cuenta con la tecnología “Doble VVT” con árboles de levas de admisión y escape de fase variable, así como múltiple de admisión con válvulas de control de flujo.
Estas innovaciones permiten tener mayor potencia, menor consumo de combustible (De hasta 5% comparado a los motores de 4 cilindros ofrecidos anteriormente por el Grupo Chrysler), así como bajas emisiones contaminantes, para cumplir con los estrictos estándares de protección ambiental a nivel mundial.
La Transmisión Automática Continuamente Variable o CVT2 (Continuously Variable Transmission) por sus siglas en inglés, es la segunda generación de la innovadora transmisión CVT.
Los ingenieros del Grupo Chrysler incorporaron de la función AutoStick®, permite seleccionar manualmente 6 velocidades preestablecidas.
En comparación con un cambio automático de 4 velocidades convencional, la transmisión CVT2 logra una reducción del consumo de combustible del 6 al 8%.
El Jeep Compass 2007 ofrece como equipo de serie en todas sus versiones: Frenos de disco ABS en las 4 ruedas, Programa Electrónico de Estabilidad (ESP) con control de tracción y Sistema Electrónico Anti-volcadura (ERM).
En seguridad pasiva, destacan las bolsas de aire frontales para conductor y pasajero en todas sus versiones y por si fuera poco, tiene disponible (en versión Limited 4x4) el sistema de comunicación manos libres UConnect, que mediante la conexión inalámbrica (Vía Bluetooth) entre el teléfono celular y el sistema de audio, permite manejar y hablar al mismo tiempo sin quitar las manos del volante.
Adicionalmente ofrece novedades en su interior, como son las siguientes:

Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH REAR DISC BRAKES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 135, "LIGHT VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE LENGTH OF THE REAR WHEEL HUB MOUNTING BOLTS MAY PREVENT ACTUATION OF THE PARK BRAKE.
